www.Babycenter.com cites shoe tying as a developmental milestone for age 5. By this age children are beginning to learn to be more independent and tying their own shoes, along with packing their own lunch, checking their backpack for homework and other necessities and getting themselves ready in the classroom are great way to encourage this new found independence. Please explore the information gathered below to help your child learn to tie their own shoes, if they do not already know how to do so. Please be aware that as an adult in the room there is simply not time for me, or another faculty member, to tie shoes each time they come undone for each of the 26+ students, as such I rely on children to learn to do so themselves, or to ask a friend for help.
